World Menstrual Day 2025

World Menstrual Day 2025 celebration

On Wednesday, 28th May, we joined the global community in celebrating Menstrual Hygiene Day at Uhuru Mchanganyiko Primary School—an inclusive school with students who are deaf, blind, mentally challenged, and living with albinism.

Reaching Every Girl

This year's theme, "Making menstruation a normal fact of life by 2030," guided our mission to ensure that menstrual health education reaches every girl, regardless of ability or background.

Our team conducted awareness sessions on menstrual hygiene management, with sign language interpreters ensuring that our deaf students fully participated in the learning experience.

Breaking the Silence

Menstruation remains a topic surrounded by stigma and silence in many communities. For girls with disabilities, these challenges are often compounded by lack of accessible information and resources.

Through interactive sessions, we discussed proper hygiene practices, addressed common myths, and encouraged open conversations about menstrual health.

Providing Essential Supplies

We distributed sanitary pads and hygiene kits to over 80 girls at the school. These supplies will help ensure that no girl misses school due to her period.

Looking Forward

The Ella Foundation remains committed to ensuring that menstrual health education and supplies reach deaf girls and women across Tanzania. Together, we can make menstruation a normal part of life for everyone.
