World Hearing Day 2026

World Hearing Day 2026 celebration with Ella Foundation

On March 3rd, Ella Foundation joined the global community in celebrating World Hearing Day — a campaign organized annually by the World Health Organization to raise awareness about hearing loss and promote ear and hearing care.

Educating the Next Generation

This year, we brought our outreach directly to young students, teaching them about the importance of hearing health and how to protect their ears. Through interactive sessions, children learned about the science of hearing, common causes of hearing loss, and simple steps they can take to preserve their hearing.

Our team of healthcare professionals and educators worked together to make the learning experience engaging and accessible for all participants.

Free Hearing Screenings

As part of our World Hearing Day activities, we provided free hearing assessments to students. Early detection is crucial — identifying hearing issues at a young age allows for timely intervention and support, helping children thrive in their educational journey.

For many children, this was their first-ever hearing check-up. We were grateful to provide this essential service and connect families with resources for follow-up care when needed.

Bridging Communication

A highlight of the day was introducing students to basic sign language. For some, it was their first exposure to this beautiful form of communication. By teaching simple signs, we hope to foster understanding and inclusion between deaf and hearing communities from an early age.

Looking Forward

World Hearing Day reminds us that hearing health is a fundamental aspect of overall well-being. The Ella Foundation remains committed to advocating for deaf rights, promoting early detection, and ensuring that everyone — regardless of hearing ability — has the opportunity to participate fully in society.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers, healthcare professionals, and community partners who made this day possible. Together, we are building a more inclusive Tanzania.
