International Week for the Deaf – Shinyanga 2024

Ella Foundation was in Shinyanga to celebrate the International Week of the Deaf where we met different stakeholders working with the Deaf community.

The International Week of the Deaf is celebrated annually in September and serves as a global advocacy platform for deaf rights and awareness.

Connecting with Stakeholders

During our time in Shinyanga, we connected with government officials, NGOs, deaf associations, and community members to discuss challenges and opportunities for the deaf community in the region.

Key Discussions

Topics included improving access to education, healthcare services, employment opportunities, and the importance of recognizing Tanzanian Sign Language.

Building Networks

The event provided valuable networking opportunities. We established connections that will help expand our outreach and advocacy efforts across Tanzania.
