In celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child, marked on September 10, 2024, the Ella Foundation visited Buguruni Deaf School to distribute sanitary towels to 55 girls. This impactful initiative is part of the foundation’s ongoing commitment to empowering girls and ensuring equal access to education.
The distribution of sanitary products addresses a critical but often overlooked barrier to education for many girls—period poverty. By providing these essential supplies, the Ella Foundation aims to help the girls manage their menstrual health with dignity and confidence, reducing school absenteeism and promoting academic continuity.
Speaking during the visit, a representative from the foundation emphasized the importance of supporting girls, especially those with disabilities, to ensure that no one is left behind in the pursuit of education and opportunity.
This visit to Buguruni Deaf School is one of many efforts by the Ella Foundation to uplift marginalized communities and advocate for the rights and well-being of girls across Tanzania.
